Cloud and PDFs, strong allies of enterprises
Over the last 2 decades we have seen the gradual replacement of corporate cataloguing by website creation.
At first glance it seemed that for a graphic designer the design of catalogues and brochures was in its twilight years, then the massive advent of the cloud and the improvement of the net slowly turned the situation around.
A renaissance that I am now experiencing thanks to the close collaboration with a client of mine, who expressed the need to be able to exploit his devices to promote products and make his sales action more streamlined and flexible.
By mutual agreement, we decided to exploit Google's Cloud Drive by creating and uploading product sheets and brochures in PDF format, arranged in directories as if on a computer hard disk.
We opted for a horizontal development of the contents for optimal on-screen enjoyment.
Thanks also to the presence of a company website, it was possible to exploit the interactive properties of PDFs by linking data sheets and in-depth information resident on the hosting.
In short, the advent of the cloud combined with PDF technology has reawakened the focus on the graphic design of brochures, fact sheets and catalogues with a different and evolved use: just think of the fact that it is possible in a very short time to send, print and search for products among the resident PDFs even by just entering a simple keyword.
At this point you will ask yourself: “Well! Anybody who uses office can do that. Why should I rely on a graphic designer?”
The answer is that like all things, the aesthetic impact of a PDF document (as was once the case with the layout of brochures) creates added value, attracting attention and making your company's communication more authoritative.
