• Artu e Melody small book

  In 2007, on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the death of conductor Arturo Toscanini, I was commissioned to create the illustrations for the libretto “Artu and Melody - The story of the most famous magic wand in the world: Arturo Toscanini”. Together with the marketing manager Luciana Dallari and the advertising graphic designer Filippo Calzi, I realized the characters' features and created the illustrations that accompany the texts of the book.

  This text presents the story of Arturo Toscanini, the famous Italian conductor, through the eyes of his magic wand, Artu, and his music stand, Melody, with the support of the seven musical notes and the podium player Pippo.

  Toscanini's childhood, his first approaches to music and his rise to international fame, starting with his debut in Rio de Janeiro, is recounted.

  The book highlights Toscanini's mastery of conducting and his dedication to music, touching on significant moments in his career, including the experience of moving to America during the war and returning to Italy for the reopening of La Scala.

  His ties with composers such as Giuseppe Verdi and Richard Wagner and his generosity in founding new orchestras are also highlighted.

  The narration, designed for children, also includes anecdotes and questions to stimulate learning.
